Presented by Jordan Swail, BESc, P.Eng., BSS, RJC Engineers
A natural lighting hero is often a neglected & troublesome maintenance nightmare. Learn all the ins and outs of large commercial skylights from an emerging expert in the field, Jordan Swail.
CSC Grand Valley Chapter - Luncheon Seminar
Presentation Topic:
Modern skylights are complex building envelope systems that function both as roofing and fenestration systems and present a high risk for leaks. They must be designed for aesthetics, energy efficiency, structural loads, and water penetration resistance. However, these systems do not last forever and skylight maintenance is complicated and expensive if not planned right. This presentation will discuss the challenges skylights face in order to prevent leaks, achieve long term durability, and permit access for maintenance. Case studies will be presented for several local projects.
