Construction Specifications Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce the
release of the updated CSC Glossary of Terms, now available for download
in both English and French.
Developed as a multi-purpose reference, the Glossary supports the
Canadian design and construction industry by providing clear, standardized
definitions that reflect common industry usage. Its primary objective is to
identify and clarify terminology frequently encountered in construction
documentation.
The Glossary serves as:
- An educational
tool,
- A core
component of all CSC educational programs, courses, and technical
seminars, and
- A resource to
promote consistency in terminology across all CSC materials.
This updated Glossary is designed to complement and align with other key
industry publications, including those from the Canadian Construction
Documents Committee (CCDC), the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
(RAIC), and various other design and construction organizations.
While the Glossary does not offer an exhaustive list of highly technical
terms found in specifications or drawings, it does provide clear definitions of
commonly used terms within the context of the design and construction process.
It will be periodically updated to reflect evolving practices in the industry.
