In Memoriam: Willem Berthus Clemens de Lint, FCSC, Life Member

mourns the passing of Willem Berthus Clemens de Lint, FCSC, Life Member, who
died peacefully in his sleep on May 1, 2025, at the age of 92. Willem was a visionary architect, a dedicated volunteer,
and a cherished member of our organization whose legacy will endure for
generations.
Born on January 10, 1933, in Ginneken,
Netherlands, Willem experienced the hardships of World War II firsthand,
including his family's courageous support of Allied forces. In 1954, inspired by both the devastation of the 1953
North Sea Flood and a spirit of adventure, he immigrated to Canada. He earned his architecture degree with honours from the
University of Manitoba in 1962, where he also met his wife, Sharon.
Willem's architectural career was marked by
creativity and civic purpose. His notable
projects include the MacKenzie Art Gallery, the Moose Jaw Art Gallery and
Library, and the Trianon Tower in Regina. He
led several successful firms, including de Lint Architects Ltd., de Lint +
Taylor Architects Inc., and de Lint & Edwards Architects.
Within CSC, Willem's contributions were profound.
He served as national president from 1976 to 1977,
was elevated to Fellow in 1980, and in 2022 received CSC's highest honour: Life
Membership. His leadership helped shape the
standards and community that define our organization today.
Beyond his professional achievements, Willem was
deeply committed to public service. He served
as President of the Regina Chamber of Commerce, was appointed Honorary Consul
of the Netherlands for Saskatchewan in 1989, and was a passionate leader in
Scouts Canada. For his community service, he
was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1995.
Willem is survived by his beloved wife
Sharon, sons Dirck (Lana) and Gavin (Tara), and grandchildren Jack and Finn.
He was predeceased by his son Michael.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday,
July 6, 2025, at the MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Indspire, the
Regina Food Bank, or Scouts Canada.
CSC extends our deepest condolences to Willem's
family and all who were touched by his generosity, humour, and unwavering
commitment to excellence. His legacy will
continue to inspire us all.
